AMSOIL Synthetic Open Gear and Wire Rope Compound (OGC) is based on proprietary technology resulting in a lubricant that does not use asphaltic materials, residual compounded oils or solvents as diluents. OGC is a heavy lubricant and protectant formulated with a very thick synthetic base oil and silica thickeners. OGC is tacky, providing excellent adhesion to surfaces, resistance to water washout and protection against rust and corrosion.

OGC’s high viscosity base oil has excellent film strength for slow-moving, high-load applications. This product protects equipment operating under boundary lubrication conditions and in hostile environments. OGC clings tenaciously in conditions where conventional asphaltic gear compounds fall short. OGC’s affinity for metal surfaces and adhesion properties allow it to stick to dirty or otherwise poorly prepared surfaces. OGC does not flake off in cold temperatures or drip and run off in high temperatures. OGC stays in place when subjected to water and in many cases will reduce relubrication frequencies.

Application Recommendation
AMSOIL OGC may be applied by automatic dispensing equipment, hand brushing/swabbing or caulking. OGC is ideal for use on exposed heavy equipment and machinery components such as mining and dredging bull gears and dipper sticks, outside surfaces of wire ropes, power shovels, chains, flexible couplings, slow-moving bearing surfaces, and fifth wheel applications. OGC meets AGMA 14R and is recommended for applications identifying this specification.

Apply an adequate amount of OGC, ensuring good lubrication and thorough coverage of all mating surfaces. Relubrication intervals are based on environmental conditions and use. Manufacturers’ recommendations and observations of surface conditions will help establish correct amounts and lubrication intervals.

AMSOIL warrants that the use of its lubricants will not cause mechanical damage to any mechanically sound equipment when AMSOIL products are used in full compliance with the company’s recommendations. However, the purchaser of these lubricants is responsible for determining if these specifications are adequate and proper for the intended application. The AMSOIL warranty is limited to lubricant performance consistent with indicated specifications. No additional warranty, expressed or implied, can be made.
